Dr. Amita Patnaik is the Co-Director of Clinical Research at START in San Antonio, Texas. She is board-certified in Medical Oncology.
She earned her M.D. in 1992 at the University of Toronto, in Toronto, Canada. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at the University of Toronto, in Toronto, Canada. She completed research fellowships in Anticancer Drug Development at University of Toronto’s Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Canada and at the Cancer Therapy & Research Center’s Institute for Drug Development in San Antonio, TX.
Dr. Patnaik was Associate Director of Clinical Research and Associate Fellowship Program Director from 2000 until 2007 at the Cancer Therapy & Research Center’s Institute for Drug Development.
Dr. Patnaik’s major interests are in the development of new anticancer agents and gastrointestinal tumors. She is a member of the American Association of Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Southwest Oncology Group. She has served as a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Scientific Program Committee. She was awarded the San Antonio Business Journal’s prestigious “40 under 40” Award.
