Amanda Bucheit, MD

Dr. Amanda Bucheit is board certified in oncology and hematology, and is currently practicing with the START Center at their Sonterra location. Originally from Iowa, Dr. Bucheit received a bachelor’s degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. After working in molecular research at the Mayo Clinic, she went on to earn her medical degree at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa. She completed her residency training in internal Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This was followed by fellowship training in hematology and oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. While at MD Anderson, Dr. Bucheit worked extensively with faculty in the Melanoma Medical Oncology Department and published several first-author papers in the field. She was the recipient of the Humanities Award, which is awarded to a third-year fellow who demonstrates outstanding clinical skills and compassionate care. Dr. Bucheit treats all cancer types, but has a special interest in melanoma, lung cancer and gastrointestinal malignancies.
